We left our luxury hotel and went and got some supplies before driving up to Ayampe, which a friend had recommended. Was only a few hours away on the coast.
The place is all dirt roads with backpackers and surfers with a few restaurants and a nice long beach with plenty of crabs. We had a real nice place which also had a gew spots forcmping or overlanding an met a lovely young German couple amd Swiss girl on her own in a van and another young guy who had lived in Whitefish for many years as a ski bum, now he's a beachbum.
We stayed two nights amd then hd booked another place for three nights which ws just up the road which was not as nice but with bookings.com you can't cancel. The pictures are very seldom like the place , i think they use a fish eye lens cause they always look bigger and better. We then went back to our original place and every body was still there, the Germans are on motorcycles and just can't leave the place they love it so much. The beach is two minutes away and the water is to warm for refreshing swim cause it is hot here amd the sun is cooking me, especially my head, seems like i have lost little hair wearing that helmet all the time rubbing on your head has made me a little balder I think.
So we really just hang out all day, swim and walk and eat and repeat. There ate a few good places to eat with fresh seafood and cold beer so it's all good. Being right by the equator the temperature is the same everyday which is a little hot but oh so nice.
Am so far behind in keeping up with my blog, I just realized before Ayampe we were in Montañita for four days where we had a room overlooking the beach which was forty feet away. The place was all right for a quick visit but it is so touristy and the week end it is jam packed with people. We had some good meals and we were happy to leave for Ayampe.
